The ETI content delivery system includes the scalable web-based infrastructure necessary to deliver electronic books and documents securely to an arbitrarily large population of eBook reading devices.
In addition to extensive centralized device administration provided by Network Services, there are three user visible components
- Online Bookshelf
- Express Manager
- eBookstore
Each component can be deployed locally within an enterprise or centrally in a scaled web farm using industry standard platforms.

Online Bookshelf

This vital and unique feature of the eBook platform maintains a permanent copy of all materials that have been delivered to each eBook reading device.
This allows the customer to access reading materials anywhere and at any time.
Access to content is enabled through a built-in modem, Ethernet or USB connection on the eBook device and a personal "Online Bookshelf" maintained on central servers accessed via the Internet or behind a firewall if deployed locally.
Users can "browse" content on the "Online Bookshelf", download content onto the eBook device and read titles off-line.
Titles are delivered in a secure format that can only be decrypted by a specified eBook device.

Express Manager is a web site designed to enable content administrators to easily manage large numbers of documents and eBook reading devices.
Uploaded documents can be organized into folder hierarchies to allow for easy administrative manipulation. eBook devices can be grouped in numerous ways to allow for straightforward targeting of content delivery.
Once configured, Express Manager enables an administrator to deliver one or more documents to the Online Bookshelves of any number of devices with precision and ease.
In addition, Express Manager includes audit reports showing user downloads and the ability to retrieve previously delivered documents.

The eBookstore enables retail promotion and sale of content directly through an eBook device, a web browser on an Internet-connected PC, an offline catalog, or a third party web retailer such as Powells.com.
The system also provides a complete web-based administrative site to allow eBookstore administrators to upload, categorize, and organize the promotion of titles.
The eBookstore also interfaces directly with online credit card processing systems and provides all necessary information to customer support representatives to follow up on customer inquiries.
Publisher interfaces are also supported including implementation of the industry standard ONIX protocol for receiving eBook metadata from publishers and the industry standard Digital Sales Reporting format that eBook founders helped to pioneer.
These interfaces and supporting reports make it easy to pay publisher royalties in a timely manner with minimal expense.
