LA JOLLA, CA - May 08, 2009 - ETI continues to take an industry leadership role at the International Digital Publishing Forum’s (IDPF) Digital Book 2009 Conference. Garth Conboy, eBook Technologies, Inc (ETI) President, is to speak at both the technical workshop preceding the conference on May 11th, and at the main venue on May 12th. Mr. Conboy will present “EPUB 101” at the technical workshop. This course is billed as: “Introduction, Overview EPUB Components, EPUB ‘Reading System’, EPUB Container, EPUB Content, EPUB FAQs, EPUB Adoption, EPUB Continuing Development and Futures... plus Demonstrations.” At the main conference Mr. Conboy will present “Update on IDPF Standards”. This presentation will cover the current state of the standards development process, a demonstration, EPUB adoption status, and expected going-forward standards efforts. |

EPUB enables the creation and transport of reflowable digital books and other types of content as single-file digital publications that are interoperable between disparate EPUB-compliant reading devices and applications. EPUB encompasses a content markup standard (Open Publication Structure - OPS), a packaging standard (Open Packaging Format - OPF), and a container standard (Open Container Format - OCF). ETI’s senior staff have played pivotal roles in the organization since it’s inception. Garth Conboy (ETI’s President), John Rivlin (ETI’s CEO), and Brady Duga (ETI Senior Engineer) chaired and vice-chaired the technical working groups that designed the EPUB standard and its predecessor standards. |
