The screen on my ETI-1 locked up. What can I do?
If the screen on your ETI-1 locks up, the suggested course of action is a complete power down of the eBook.
Close the cover of your ETI-1 for a minute, and this should return the screen to normal.
If the screen is still locked, close the cover of your ETI-1 and open the battery compartment.
Make sure there is no red light at the edge of the battery compartment. Remove the battery for a few minutes.
After you reinsert the battery and close the compartment, turn on your ETI-1 and the screen should be restored to a normal state.

The icons and menus on my screen don't seem to be as sensitive as they once were. What can I do?
If the icons don't seem as sensitive, a realignment of the touch screen may be needed.
To realign the touch screen, make sure the ETI-1 is turned off.
Hold down the left side of the page switch and while holding it down, press the Menu button to turn on the unit.
You should press the Bookshelf button if the eBookshelf does not appear on the screen.
Press the Menu button again, then tap Info on the dropdown menu.
In the top right corner of the screen, tap More, and in the next dropdown menu, tap Align.
A large X will appear in the upper left corner of the screen.
Follow the instructions to press on the center of the X until it beeps and the next letter X appears on the screen.
You will be asked to tap the center of the X in several places around the screen until the realignment is completed.

When I try to register my ETI-1 or connect to the Online Bookshelf, I get a connection failed or unsuccessful message. Why do I get this message?
You may have received this message because your modem setting was not correct for your current location.
To check your modem setting, turn on your ETI-1 and press the Bookshelf button.
Tap Settings on the eBookshelf, then tap Phone Connection.
Be sure the dialing prefix is correct, then tap Go to Bookstore (at the bottom of the page).
If you are still unable to connect, contact Customer Service at 858-454-0565.

I connected to the eBook Network and a feature update alert appeared on the screen of my ETI-1. Do I need to let it update at this time?
This alert gives you the option of updating now or later.
It is preferable to update when you receive the alert to ensure continued access to the eBook Network and take advantage of new and improved features.
If you decide to tap Cancel, the update alert appears again in 24 hours and continues to appear until you update the software.

I have forgotten my password for my ETI-1 and I need to update my account information. What should I do?
If you have forgotten your password, connect a phoneline cord or Ethernet line to your unit.
Press the Menu button and tap Bookstore.
After you are in the bookstore, press the Menu button again.
Tap Directory, then tap Customer Support.
Tap Register to view your registration information, including user name and password.

I have forgotten the passcode to my credit card information stored on my ETI-1. What should I do?
If you forget your numeric passcode, press the Bookshelf button and tap Settings on your eBookshelf.
Tap Passcode on the Table of Contents.
Tap Accept (below the keypad).
On the next page, tap Enter New Passcode, and you will have the opportunity to change your passcode.
